Bead Jewelry Making

Last Saturday, Shariita was asking me some tips in jewerly making. She wanted to start making fashion bead jewelries she can sell to friends and classmates. I asked to ready the tools and materials she wanted to use for her project. So she took my chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers, double-cup or single-cup bead tip, beads, flexible twisted wire needles and nylon . Flexible twisted wire needles have large eyes that collapse as you pull the cord through the beads and are availble in several gauges from light (2-3mm beads) to heavy(8mm-large beads. Shariita said she wanted to start with the basic, stringing beads with cord by using either nylon or silk. She opted for nylon.I told her she can make a self made needle on thicker cord by coating an inch of the end with instant glue. The cord could be doubled or single. So if doubled, begin with a piece about five times the lenght of the final necklace if your making a necklace. But if you are strining with a single cord, use a lenght two and a half times longer. String the cord on the needle and pull it halfway through, so the needle is at the very center of the length of the cord. Now attach clasps and finish strands, beading cord is knotted two or more times and glued so it will not eventually untie.Unsightly knots must be hidden by using one of two kinds of knot covers( double-cup or single-cup bead tip)which works best for light necklaces, Heavier necklaces are strongest when finished with cones. So there she enjoyed her Saturday doing simple bead jewelries. Next Saturday she wanted to do some bead weaving.

  1. si mommy mahilig talaga yan sa mga kinukuting ting. like beads etc. magaling din si mommy sa arts and crafts. in fact un mga display sa bahay halos mga work of art nya lang yun. pede mo nga ilagay sa art museum eh. carbon copy naman ng mga kids...yan ang lola namin that doesn't look lola. she looks 1year younger than me...hehehe!
